Online Store 2.0

If you haven't heard yet, Shopify announced Online Store 2.0 as the latest and greatest way for apps like Ordergroove to integrate onto a merchant's site. Here's some more information in case you're curious: Shopify Online Store 2.0

Ordergroove has built support for Online Store 2.0, meaning you can now use Ordergroove on compatible Online Store 2.0 themes. This might mean you need to modify your theme to be compatible, which you can learn more about on Shopify's documentation.

If you have not upgraded your theme to Online Store 2.0, don't worry, our integration and your theme will continue to work. But when you want to switch over, we wrote up a short article on how you can move your Ordergroove installation over.

As a reminder, this is currently ALPHA and therefore might change. We will inform you if/when we do. If you are interested in using this ALPHA, email me directly at amal.alam@ordergroove.com.

Upcoming changes to make Ordergroove easier to use

We are hard at working making improvements to Ordergroove so that it is easier for you to use and navigate. Over the next few weeks, you’ll start to see cosmetic and UX changes within Ordergroove, including a new navigation! We are giving you a heads up to make the transition as smooth as possible. Don’t worry, it’s the same Ordergroove you know and love, just with a little glow-up.

Navigation

We are updating our app's menu to make it easier to navigate Ordergroove. The vertical menu that is currently located on the left side will be moved to a horizontal menu on the top of the screen. This will give you more room on the page to manage your subscription program. In addition, we are also updating the page groupings to make it easier to find what you are looking for.

Ordergroove app redirect [Shopify only]

We know things can get a little cramped when you are making changes to your subscription program from within Shopify. We want you to have all the screen real estate you need to make using Ordergroove a breeze. With this update, when you open our app from within the Apps page on your Shopify admin, we will redirect you to a new browser tab to use Ordergroove. As always, you can also access Ordergroove directly by going to rc3.ordergroove.com.

Apple Pay on Shopify Subscriptions

We're very excited to announce that we built support for Apple Pay into Ordergroove as well, and so your customers can now purchase subscriptions using Apple Pay!

As a reminder, Apple Pay only works on Apple devices. So customers on a macOS computer, iPad, or iPhone will be able to use this. They can purchase a subscription with Apple Pay and all future orders will be charged through Apple Pay as well.

Price Transparency in Default Offer - Shopify Only

Merchants on Shopify now have the ability to display the discounted price within their offer without any technical lift. Displaying discounted price within the offer is a great way to show customers the cost benefit of subscribing over purchasing one time.

All new merchants on Shopify will be provisioned with price transparency shown within their default offer out of the box. For merchants already live who want to take advantage of this great feature, they must do the following:

1. Ecomm platform must be Shopify and merchant must have their Initial Order Incentive turned on within promotions in RC3 (IOI is turned on by default).

2. Click the + and select the new template with price transparency shown on the enrollment page in RC3.

Automatic product ingestion during onboarding

We are excited to share that we made a performance update to how Ordergroove initially ingests a store's product catalog from Shopify.

Previously, when a new Shopify store onboarded with Ordergroove, there was a delay in syncing the store's Shopify catalog with Ordergroove. It could take up to 30 minutes or more for a new merchant to see their products listed on the Ordergroove Products page. With this release, we improved the process so that the store's product catalog is added to Ordergroove immediately. Now when Shopify merchants go to the Products page after onboarding, they will see all of their products listed.

Tagging line items on Shopify

Many of you have told us about needing to know the details about specific items in an order placed by Ordergroove.

We've added some hidden line item properties for recurring orders now!

In the above screenshot, both items look like subscriptions. But if you look at the "ordergroove.item.type" you'll see the first product is a subscription and the second one is a one-time product (added via Instant Upsell).

There are some additional details on the subscription item, such as the subscription public ID (for API calls back to Ordergroove), the subscription start date, and the original order ID when the subscription started. Lastly, the subscription also has a field called extraData, which is a string of any data you've sent into the Ordergroove via API.

Reminder: these are actually hidden line item properties, so your customers won't see them. But you can see and use them from the Shopify Admin.

As always, if you're interested in participating in this alpha, you can email me directly at amal.alam@ordergroove.com.

RC3 Analytics - Filter by Date Range

Previously users only had the ability to filter by monthly date ranges within the RC3 analytics page. This was a frustrating experience for users who wanted to see daily metrics, or specific date ranges of their data. We've updated the analytics page so you can filter by any date range you'd like.
