Tagging line items on Shopify

Many of you have told us about needing to know the details about specific items in an order placed by Ordergroove.

We've added some hidden line item properties for recurring orders now!

In the above screenshot, both items look like subscriptions. But if you look at the "ordergroove.item.type" you'll see the first product is a subscription and the second one is a one-time product (added via Instant Upsell).

There are some additional details on the subscription item, such as the subscription public ID (for API calls back to Ordergroove), the subscription start date, and the original order ID when the subscription started. Lastly, the subscription also has a field called extraData, which is a string of any data you've sent into the Ordergroove via API.

Reminder: these are actually hidden line item properties, so your customers won't see them. But you can see and use them from the Shopify Admin.

As always, if you're interested in participating in this alpha, you can email me directly at amal.alam@ordergroove.com.

RC3 Analytics - Filter by Date Range

Previously users only had the ability to filter by monthly date ranges within the RC3 analytics page. This was a frustrating experience for users who wanted to see daily metrics, or specific date ranges of their data. We've updated the analytics page so you can filter by any date range you'd like.

Product Config User Interface - SKU

We heard that name alone wasn't enough to distinguish between products in the product config UI, so we now provide the ability to search by SKU. Visit the product config page to try it now.

Tagging customers in Shopify

Some of our merchants have mentioned to us that they like to use customer-level tags to identify subscribers. They use this for marketing purposes or creating custom experiences on their website.

Now you'll be able to identify customers on your Shopify store as "Active Ordergroove Subscriber" or "Inactive Ordergroove Subscriber."

Active Ordergroove Subscriber - subscriber with 1 or more subscriptions

Inactive Ordergroove Subscriber - subscriber that has canceled all their subscriptions

If a customer never subscribed, we won't tag them.

This feature is currently in alpha, so if you're interested in using this feature feel free to email me directly at amal.alam@ordergroove.com

Tagging subscription orders

We've heard from many of you that you use Shopify's order tags to create integrations with data and analytics systems.

In order to support you to do this, Ordergroove will now tag subscription orders as "Ordergroove Subscription Order" for merchants using Shopify's Subscription APIs. This feature is released as alpha, so if you're interested in getting your orders tagged feel free to reach out to me directly at amal.alam@ordergroove.com.

Shop Pay support

We're excited to share that our Shopify merchants will now be able to offer customers the ability to purchase subscriptions using Shop Pay. Shop Pay is an accelerated checkout that Shopify provides to allow customers to purchase from stores with one-click. It's a great way to drive conversion on your store.

This feature is officially in General Availability (GA) and is available to any merchants using Shopify Payments or Authorize.net on the new Shopify Subscription APIs. You do not need to configure anything specific for Shop Pay. If you have Shop Pay on your store already, then your customers will be able to use it with subscriptions.

If you are unsure if you're using the new APIs, you can reach out to us at help@ordergroove.com.

P.S. Apple Pay and Google Pay are coming soon!

Shopify Discount Codes

We know that our Shopify customers rely heavily on discount codes to drive business, and we're happy to announce that you'll soon be able to leverage discount codes for your subscription program.

This feature is currently in an Alpha testing phase as we gather feedback from some of our early users. If you are interested in joining the Alpha please reach out to your Ordergroove team or email me directly at andrew.magne@ordergroove.com.

If you'd like to read more about the Alpha there is a Knowledge Center article that details out our approach. I'm looking forward to bringing discount codes to all of you soon!

Shopify Shipping

I'm happy to announce that Shopify Shipping has now been released for General Availability (GA).

All merchants using Shopify’s Subscriptions APIs have the option to toggle between using Shopify Shipping or setting a flat rate in Ordergroove. This option appears in both the Promotions section next to free shipping and in the Settings section under “Shipping”.

Please note that this setting only applies to recurring orders. The shipping methods and rates used for the initial checkout are determined by Shopify. You can learn more in this Knowledge Center article or respond to this note with your questions. If you have other ideas on how we can improve our shipping integration please share!
